About new Nikon Z6 & Z7 FF mirrorless cameras annonced

Photography is a passion since 35 years. I own a large brunch of digital Nikon professionnal cameras. I started at the end of 2003 with D70 and my last one is a D850. The good point for that manufacturer was, front of competitors, the lenses compatibility.  The NIkon F mount is preserved since 1959 ! Even sometimes you loose automatisme, you may mount an old lense on  recent body and that 's what i called investment. The amount of money photographers spend into lenses is much more important rather than the one for the bodies. Another key point is generally that the lenses do not wear out ...
The bad news here is that Nikon decided to create a new mount system : the Z mount. Nikon will propose an adaptor to mount "old" F lenses onto Z mount but you will have to reinvest to get the better of the system.

Another (and very bad) point is that the memory slot is XQD, a rare and expensive form factor. I don't understand why there is not a second SD UHS II slot  like Sony and Fujifilm does.

Backlighting commands, very valuable in dark places, disappears too.

Regarding burst mode performances, i don't understand why Nikon with its 24 Mpixel sensor is not able to be at the level of Sony and the futur Fuji XT 3 with 20 images /s, very useful in sport.

So wait and see ...

Good to see you again !

After two years of radio silence on http://ds45.blogspot.com, I resume my life as a blogger while i'm entering in a new company.

The reason is relatively simple: it was complicated, for legal reasons, to animate an external blog at my former Oracle employer.

What did I do while we lost sight of each other? Without betraying secrecy, I worked within an entity that designs storage arrays, I acquired broad skills on the rich ecosystem of the software giant and then I was evolved around the implementation of some of its Clouds. Who says giant, also sometimes says lack of agility and inertia in the decisions, which frustrated me sometimes. But to be clear, I left on very good terms and I continue to admire the Oracle's technologies.

Now, I've decided to join Nutanix, one of the Silicon Valley's unicorns, an agile company, champion of the Software Defined Datacenter (SDDC) to share my experience with mass data management. and my advice on implementing hybrid clouds.

As always I will treat, here, my vision of things (not necessarily that of Nutanix) around my favorite areas: IT, photography, music and other stuff ...

This place is also yours, do not hesitate to react commenting but with respect and kindness.

Olivier.
